Michael Gehrke is a recent UWEC graduate, receiving a BFA degree in illustration and minor in Japanese. He works mainly in watercolor, pencil, and digital painting.

This piece was made to be part of Mike’s senior exhibit, which including two other large watercolor paintings and eight pages of a graphic novel. The graphic novel follows the story of Swift (the wolf in the picture) and a group of other creatures on a quest to save the forest. The story is very much a fantasy, and came from a bedtime story Mike told his son Gabe over the course of three months.
