Local composer Adam Boll is seeking to bring his show, “The Monster of Phantom Lake,” to the stage in the Chippewa Valley, but with a little help from community members. “The Monster of Phantom Lake” production, is a musical adaption of a 2006 independent comedy film directed by Christopher Mihm. The film is a modern take on 1950s style, black-and-white monster movies. Mihm, a Minnesota native, directed and wrote the movie and later adapted a script for the stage. Boll then took the script and turned it into a musical, adding in original music and lyrics with 50s/60s pop/rock and sci-fi monster-style musical numbers. Their kickstarter campaign is currently live and ends January 10. If they reach their minimum goal of $2,500, they will record an original cast album at Pine Hollow Studios in Eau Claire in March and have the live showings at a black-box theater. But, if they reach their final goal of $6,000, they can perform the show at the historic Mabel Tainter Center for the Performing Arts in Menomonie. To help Boll reach his goal and bring this production to the Chippewa Valley, check out the team’s Kickstarter page and donate.
