The Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley will soon have a new home: The group’s board of directors voted Nov. 18 to buy the former First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, for $900,000. The purchase will allow for the relocation of the club and its offices from the Mary Markquart Center, 201 E. Lake St. “Aside from the much-needed additional space, the First Lutheran Church location will help the Eau Claire Club to remain centrally located in our community and it will continue to be easily accessible for members,” said Deb Fischer, board president. First Lutheran Church recently merged with Our Saviors Lutheran to form Spirit Lutheran, which is housed in the latter church on Main Street.
