EC City Council Eases Alt-Side Parking Rules

On-street parkers of Eau Claire, rejoice! No longer will you have to calculate tomorrow’s date and squint at house numbers when determining which side of the street to park on overnight. On Oct. 27, the City Council voted 7-2 to change the alternate-side parking rule, which previously had been in force – regardless of weather – between Nov. 1 through May 1. Under the new rule, you’re free to park on whichever side of the street you’d like except when the city declares a “snow event” and fully plows residential streets. During a “snow event,” alternate-side parking will be in effect for 72 hours. Furthermore, during that 72-hour period the alternate-side rule will apply between midnight and 5pm (under the old rule, is was enforced between midnight and 7am).
