That sound you just heard may have been a glass ceiling shattering: The Eau Claire County Board voted May 19 to hire Kathryn A. Schauf as the new county administrator. Schauf, who has been administrative coordinator for Sauk County for the past decade, will be the first woman to hold the post. “I believe that Kathy will be an outstanding administrator who will serve Eau Claire County and its citizens very well for many years to come,” said Gregg Moore, Eau Claire County Board chairman. Schauf will replace J. Thomas McCarty, who left to become city administrator in Stillwater, Minn., earlier this year. She’ll begin her new job by mid-July, and her salary will range from $130,000 to $160,000.
