History lovers of the Chippewa Valley make your way to the Chippewa Valley Museum on May 17 for International Museum Day. The museum will offer a buy one adult and get one at half price admissions special from 10am to 5pm, as well as a scavenger hunt to test the powers of observation throughout the various exhibits. International Museum Day began in 1977 as an effort to celebrate the role of museums in the development of society and has since grown into a massive international event with over 35,000 participating museums worldwide. CVM’s director Julie Bunke is excited to again celebrate the role of regional history museums and their place in developing community by connecting past to present in a fun, hands-on environment. Visitors can enjoy the award-winning exhibits, go to the multimedia object theater, or experience hands-on history displays for kids of all ages. In between, they can sip on an ice cream soda in the vintage 1950s ice cream parlor. Exhibits currently on display include “Changing Currents,” an exploration of the last 400 years of Chippewa Valley history and the people who made it; and “Farm Life,” a look at the last 100 years in farming history in America.
