All right. It’s happening again. One of Eau Claire’s biggest, baddest weekends of music is back, and this time it’s three days long. We’re talking about the 36th installment of Decadent Cabaret which begins Thursday, March 5, and goes strong until Saturday, March 7. The lineup is packed with local acts performing tribute sets of some of the world’s favorite rock bands. There’s Yam Cannon playing Ziggy Stardust and even Pat Benetar and Kiss tributes. Other acts include Babe, Unrest, Pit Wagon, The Heart Pills, Irie Sol, Hemma, Doks Robotiks, Meridene, Ronald Raygun, Drunk Drivers, Fathom, Dingo Factory, and even more bands than you could possibly know what to do with. If you’re still not sure what Decadent Cabaret is, it’s a festival of short sets, complete with weird costumes that may or may not be representative of the bands in tribute, performed by pretty much all of the region’s local bands. In the past, the notoriously rowdy weekend has seen Meridene playing Queen, Jim Pullman Band playing Prince, even a Talking Heads set or two … or three. This year, the Cabaret is ready to rock again, so pull out those fishnet stockings and gem-studded leather jackets and we’ll see you on Water Street.
