“Cardinals and Baling Twine” by C.J. Conner
18”x24” acrylic

C.J. Conner tries to paint or write an illustrated story or do something with her art every day – and she pretty much has for the last 40 years or so. Not a believer of long range planning and she lives life like a neverending series of episodes of "The Twilight Zone."

“The name of the piece is ‘Cardinals and Baling Twine,’ an acrylic painting done about 1994. I always learn something from each painting because I am a stickler for markings and such on animals and birds - but in this particular piece, I really learned a lot about wood grain and how wood grows around knots and such. ... By the time I was finished with this painting I felt like an expert on wood grain!”  – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
