Barbara Arnold |

“Fabrics of the World” is the theme of UW-Eau Claire’s International Folk Fair on Sunday, Nov. 2, from noon to 4pm in the Davies Center. The event will feature the patterns, styles, and textures of fabrics, textiles, and artifacts, through interactive and showcase displays from 30 different community and student culture groups. Visitors will secure a passport upon entry and earn rewards for visiting the various booths, learning to write in different languages, wearing traditional attire, playing games from different places, making arts and crafts, and sampling different cuisine. New this year will be an effort to engage participants through social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Visit Eau Claire will also be hosting a photo booth. Maria Carvalho, international student advisor, who hails from Kenya and is of Indian/Portuguese descent, organizes the event. She calls the fair “her 3,000-person wedding.” Get there on time. You won’t want to miss it!
