Stalwarts Whale House Crank Out New EP

Zack Katz

Making good on their promise to deliver a consistent flow of tunes over the course of the year, alt-rock trio Whale House are following up their year-beginning dual song project, Stand Out,with a second EP, The Negative Space. Following the trend of their outside-of-the-box ambitions from the former recording, Whale House loosened their ties with ambitions for an even more experimental cut on this second EP. Spunky bass like something out of a Descendents record matched with silky vocals give the local rockers a sound that’s easy to pick out of a mix. Although these three laid low for the meat and potatoes of the year, they’re “emerging out of the darkness like the Loch Ness Monster” with the debut of The Negative Space, suggesting more activity this fall. Make your way to Whale House’s upcoming House of Rock CD release party at 9 pm on Sept. 13.
