Who says rooftop concerts are just for legendary Liverpudlians? (That’s a Beatles reference for those of you not familiar with the band’s iconic 1969 rooftop gig.) The Eau Claire Music School will rock out for its fifth anniversary on Friday, Sept. 5, with a free rooftop concert in partnership with BOB FM 99.9 to benefit school music programs in the Altoona, Chippewa Falls, and Eau Claire school districts. Eau Claire bands The Heart Pills, Dames, and Adelyn Rose will perform live on the roof of the school, 1620 Ohm Ave., from 4:30-7:30pm. There will be a silent auction including memorabilia from well-known rock acts, as well as an opportunity to make a cash, check, or credit card donation. All donations will go directly to the local public schools. The Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation has established a fund to collect and process the donations. To learn more, visit www.eauclairemusicschool.com (then click on “Events”) or www.ecasd.k12.wi.us/foundation/ or call (715) 514-0475. This is the 50th anniversary year of the Beatles’ arrival in America; so come on out and rock for a good cause – music in our schools!
