Rogcity's Downtown Workout Tour

V1 Staff |

You don’t always have time to get to the gym. And on top of that, sometimes it’s nice to get outside and bask in the beauty of your community. Luckily, our downtown is ripe with workout options that don’t require a treadmill or even a dumbbell. We talked to Jeff Rogers of RogCity Fitness about how to use the environment around us – right here in Eau Claire – to stay healthy throughout the summer months.

Talking with Jeff Rogers

Why is your focus on everyday fitness, as opposed to more specific, athletic training?
Fitness is a lifestyle, not a quick fix. There are no shortcuts. With small, continual improvements you can create daily habits and a lifetime of health and happiness.

What’s your favorite place to work out outside in the area?
I love running the trails and coming across the Phoenix Park bridge and heading towards Banbury Place. There’s nothing quite like running through a city that has water right downtown. It’s very relaxing but engaging at the same time.

Any song suggestions for a workout downtown?
When I’m out running or doing interval training I like to listen to bands like Mat Kearney, Ingrid Michaelson and American Authors. They all have a lot of upbeat songs and are all great people. A lot of their songs will be featured in my upcoming Workout DVD. When I’m winding down, I would recommend bands such as Jonsi, Volcano Choir and S. Carey, of course.

Look forward to a new fitness DVD from Jeff Rogers this year. For more info on RogCity Fitness, go to RogCity.com or find him on Facebook.
