No Oxbow for you, Carson Park.
No Oxbow for you, Carson Park.

You may remember reading last fall about the possibility of a two-day music festival to take place next September in Carson Park. The Oxbow Music & Arts Festival, proposed by Wisconsin native (and Austin, Texas music promoter) Nick Barbian had received support from the City of Eau Claire, as well as many individuals and businesses. However, Barbian has announced the festival won’t occur this fall as planned. After the primary investor pulled his funding for personal reasons, the festival no longer had the money for first-year startup costs, Barbian said in a press release. “After more than a year of planning and just as the first offers were going out to acts, we found ourselves in the position of having to start from scratch financially and, given the shortened timeframe, have yet to make up the difference,” Barbian said. However, he added, there’s hope for a festival in 2015: The branding is in place, Carson Park has been secured as a location, and there are even potential sponsors lining up. But for now, it’s back to the drawing board for The Oxbow.
