“August Silos” by Kristi Schumacher
Photography, 11” x 14”

Kristi Schumacher is a self-trained artist, woodcarver, photographer, and children’s book author. Her work can be found in many venues throughout the midwest, including the Local Store.

"The August Silos photo was taken in 2011 on my farm near Eau Claire-it’s one of my favorites. In fact many of my photos are taken at the farm, or within a few miles of it. My paintings and drawings are created in a realistic style in pencil and acrylics. Carving is another one of my passions. The one-of-a-kind folkart santas, horses, and dolls I create have found new homes as faraway as California. I’m truly excited that my third children’s book should be ready for publishing sometime this winter. What can I say, art in one form or another keeps me passionate about life.” – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
