Sandra Cress has a fine arts degree from UWEC and is glad to call Eau Claire her home, though she wishes that most of the squirrels and deer in her yard would relocate.

“I have always been drawn to the beauty and mystery of the moon; it is a companion in the night sky, a cyclical constant, a grounding beacon.  The moon is often featured in my artwork, whether the medium be drawing, painting, photography or collage. As an artist, the title of my studio is Moonseed Studio. Many of my mixed media paintings reflect my interest and experience in printmaking, and sometimes have been mistaken as such. In “Blue Moon,” I have depicted a daylight moon as blue. I like to leave the viewer with their own interpretation, but who is to say this has not occurred, if only in our imagination?” – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
