Do you own an ugly sweater? Do you like cookies and hot chocolate? Do you like combining these things with perfectly mellow music in a wonderfully crafted Holiday Show? Then look no further than UAC’s concert featuring Jeremy Messersmith, Peter Wolf Crier, and Night Moves on December 14. Cabin Co-Chair Jenny Johns says they wanted to combine the UAC Cabin and Concerts committees together to create one event. The bands featured are ones that would usually be booked for Cabin events, but combining with the Concerts committee “provides us the ability to turn it into a bigger show with more funding, bigger space, and more ideas” says Johns. Adding ugly sweaters and cookies allows for the holiday feel of the show without the bands needing to perform holiday songs. The atmosphere of the holidays is still created and an all around cozy concert environment is established right before finals start. Johns also says this was the perfect opportunity to get Jeremy Messersmith back on campus since his appearance in the Cabin in 2009. Peter Wolf Crier and Night Moves were additions that fit well into the genre and will satisfy the overall mood of the show. Johns hopes this can become an annual event and that everyone that attends will enjoy it. There will also be an Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest where three people can win free tickets to the show. To enter just post a picture of you wearing your most unattractive holiday sweater on the UAC Facebook page. Each of the three winners will receive two free tickets to the concert. Entries are due December 12th by noon. The show itself is on December 14 at 7:30 in the Ojibwe Ballroom in Davies. Tickets are $10 for general public and $5 for students.
