A couple of downtown businesses are getting a little boost from Downtown Eau Claire Inc. DECI’s annual Jump-Start Downtown Business Competition announced its 2013 winners Aug. 8. The grand prize went to a new downtown business, Clever Owl, a full-service creative firm that offers design, writing, and Web development services. Clever Owl won $5,000 and a $500 media package from DECI. The runner-up was Spin Vision, a creative media company that specializes in virtual tours and mobile marketing. Spin Vision won $3,000 and the media package. DECI has hosted the Jump-Start Business Competition since 2005 and has awarded over $46,000 to businesses through the program.
