Survey Finds Much Love For Two-Way Traffic

The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce surveyed its members about two-way traffic on downtown streets and found most opinions ran in one direction: favorable. In September, traffic switched to two-way on stretches of South Barstow Street and Graham Avenue that had been one-way since 1971. According to results released in mid-February, more than four in five respondents (82.4 percent) said they thought two-way traffic was working. Meanwhile, roughly two-thirds of respondents (67.3 percent) said they actually prefer two-way streets. According to the chamber, the survey was sent to 2,300 members and had a 23 percent response rate – the highest ever for a chamber survey, and that included one a few years ago on the controversial jail project.
