silver gelatin print; 9.5” x 12.5”; 4/25/2011Bruce Warren“In the past my images tended to focus on rural landscapes. Recently, I’ve shifted my emphasis to more urban environments. My primary concern has always been with the interplay of light and shadow, shapes and repeating patterns in my images. I believe my desired outcome is best achieved through the use of a monochromatic medium: black and white film exposed through a 4x5 view camera that is developed and printed in my traditional darkroom. I came upon this image while wandering around downtown Eau Claire late one afternoon towards the end of April 2011. The meter’s shadow reminds me of a cartoon character’s silhouette.” – The Artist
