Volume One Special Coverage: Pulling Together While Staying Apart

The Dark Arts

Thom Fountain

If your idea of art is bright, pretty paintings then this probably isn’t the show for you. On Sept. 29 the annual Art Obscuritas show returns to Eau Claire, shining its black light on gruesome sculptures, paintings, prints, comics and other ‘underground dark arts’. The professional show will feature art from nationally recognized artists including Chet Zar (work pictured), Karyn Crisis, Michelle Xcreative and Vincent Castiglia, among others. In another twist, the show is being held in a non-gallery-turned-gallery space at the VFW on Starr Avenue. For obvious reasons, the show is 18+ and probably not for the faint of heart.
