“'Black Eyed Susan' is part of a series of summer fairies I painted, inspired by Mary Cicely Barker. These have been some of my most successful pieces yet, proving that it is always wise to do what makes you happy. All my fairy prints can be seen at briannacapra.com and are for sale at bcaprastudio.etsy.com.I also believe that everyone can draw, and based on this I am offering a series of workshops at the Family Learning Center in Menomonie. What we were thinking: "Green foliage and yellow Black-Eyed Susan's are common scenery in the Chippewa Valley throughout the transition to summer. Brianna Capra created this loose and organic water color illustration that depicts a couple of childlike fairies interacting with one another. This scene transcends into the scope of reality throughout the spring and summer months where children frolic and play in nature. Her asymmetrical composition coupled with pulling foreground objects into sharp focus and blurring the background ads to the depth and flow of the piece."
