Singer/songwriter Anna Johnson, a Chippewa Falls native with a twang that’s taken her all the way to Nashville, proves that you can’t shake your roots. “Since moving to Nashville in the fall of 2009, I have come home several times,” said Johnson. “Many of my friends and supporters are based in the Midwest, so it’s always wonderfully encouraging and lucrative to come home to tour.” Johnson said she chose to perform the CD release concerts at Chi Hi because she’s played there the past four years and each time has gotten better. “It’s like home to me now,” Johnson said. “Also, it’s important to me to support music in the community and encourage students to follow their dreams and passions in the world of the arts.” Johnson noted that, this year, music students at Chi Hi have the ability to sell tickets and raise money for their personal music accounts. “That money is used for school trips, gear, and more, and can add up quickly if the kids are proactive about selling.” Johnson said she is most looking forward to seeing friends and family. “It’s fun to share my career as it progresses with all the people who were there from the very start,” she said. “I’ve come a long way since I began, and it’s a blessing to have so many people from home on my side, following the journey as I learn and grow.” Tickets to the shows are for sale now at Living Room Coffee House and at Chippewa Valley Physical Therapy. Copies of Johnson’s second album, Winding Road, will be for purchase at the concerts.
