If you like Bill Engvall … you might be a redneck. Illustrious stand-up comedian, TV actor, and recent game show host (Lingo) is coming to The State Theatre in Eau Claire. If you haven’t heard of him, he’s best known for his role in the Blue Collar Comedy Tour alongside Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, and Ron White, as they essentially waxed on their universal existences and experiences as “rednecks.” In the past, relentless “git r done” jokes and somewhat obnoxious references have been known to stick this group of blue collar comedians with an irritating reputation to folks that aren’t quite on the same countrified “rustic” wavelength as them. However, Engvall is outwardly the most tolerable and legitimately funny of the Collar crew. He chats mostly about mundane everyday situations from his hillbilly perspective in attempts to bond with his listeners. Engvall’s favorite topics of conversation embrace the painful realities of 20 years of marriage like watching your wife in the bathroom, the disappointing transition from string bikini to one piece swimsuit, and the simple reality that men only think about food, sleep, and sex.
