After UW-Stout’s student center stood strong for 26 years, faculty and administrators believed it was time for renovation. On January 23, they got their wish as the new center was officially unveiled. And though it stands in the same physical location as before, inside and out, the new center is sure to grab attention.

The new student center contains 10,00 square feet of lounge space, innovative dining options, interactive video walls, and items like windows and seating that continue Stout’s pride in sustainability.

Back in 2008, when the Student Senate voted to fund the renovation, the Memorial Student Center lacked charisma, space, and intrigue not only for students, but for the faculty and staff as well. Whether students wished to lounge between classes or get down to business in meetings, accommodations were slim and lighting was minimal – it’s safe to say the building wasn’t wholly appealing.

More than three years and $19 million dollars later (after an entire year of construction), the new student center contains 10,000 square feet of lounge space, innovative dining options, interactive video walls, and items like windows and seating that continue Stout’s pride in sustainability.
