I know what this is now.
OK so I guess I’ll spill the beans for all you baby fans out there. On December 3rd my wife and I had our first child, Edwin Einar Meyer, and as you might imagine we’re big fans of the little guy. His middle name, pronounced “Eye-ner” was my grandfather’s name on my mother’s side. It’s Norwegian. The kid’s got a ridiculous head of super blond hair, and basically needed a haircut right from the start. It’s already pretty clear our coonhound, Walter, likes him quite a bit too. If we don’t pay close enough attention the dog is right in there licking the baby’s face in no time. At the time of this writing we’re about 12 days into the whole “new parents” thing, so needless to say we’re pretty tired. It’s an odd thing to suddenly become a parent over the course of a weekend. But here we are, trying to make sense of the amazing turn our lives have taken, and planning (as much as we can anyway) for the life of Edwin. It’s a little head-spinning to say the least, but the amount of support and hand-me-downs we’ve received from friends and family has been enormous, and quite humbling. We’ve been lavished with amazing meals and all sorts of little gifts for both us and the baby – things that are making the transition much easier and certainly more fun. So, there’s that news. But don’t worry, Volume One won’t be dedicating a regular full-page section in every issue filled with adorable baby photos and countless stories of all the cute things he says and does. I wouldn’t make our readers endure such a self-indulgent abuse of editorial power. It will probably only be a half-page.
