Holiday Strolling

Chippewa Valley Symphony’s musical historic home tour

For those of you counting down the days until 98.1 FM goes to holiday music – all day, every day – the Friends of the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra are hosting their 13th annual Christmas Stroll. Just what is the stroll, you ask? Basically, it’s one part historic home tour, one part festive feast, another part classical holiday music show, and all fundraiser. The community is invited to sit back and relax inside six different breathtaking, historic homes of the Eau Claire area while listening to members of the symphony orchestra play various jingles. Throughout all of the houses, Christmas decorations and varying art/antiques of the homeowners will be on display. Hot chocolate and s’mores will be available at a Cape Cod house with a spectacular view of Lake Altoona, and coffee with homemade festive cookies will be available throughout most of the tour’s hours at Lake Street United Methodist Church. One particular house is the “James Barber Home” on Marston Avenue, which is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. Gear up for the season with family and friends while supporting the CVSO. But beware, once you get home you might have the sudden urge to find your own stash of classic holiday music. Turn it up and belt it out!
