Grand Theatre Officially Handicap Accessible

Chris Macheichok |

On Nov. 3, when Spitfire Grill debuted, The Grand Theatre officially became a handicap accessible venue following the completion of a new elevator installation. Construction began this past summer, after the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild completed a years-long fundraising campaign to do so. The $75,000 undertaking was primarily funded through donations. Spitfire is still showing Nov 10-13, and is a musical revolving around the journey of a young woman just released from prison who decides to start her life anew in rural Wisconsin. Similarly, the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre also wrapped up fundraising efforts to support their new venue, The Oxford. Their campaign ended in the beginning of October, reaching their goal of $500,000 after more than two years of fundraising. The venue opened in April 2010, and has already accommodated more than 22,000 people.
