WHYS Bluegrass Festival Returns to Lake Altoona

Come down to the 2011 WHYS Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Aug. 20 if you feel the need to relax and listen to some quality music. Hosted by WHYS 96.3 FM, a volunteer-operated non-commercial radio station, the event will feature such bands as King’s Countrymen, Highway 53 Bluegrass Band, Evergreen Grass Band, Boys n’ The Barrels, East Hill Bluegrass Band, Seeger Boys, Colin O’Brien, and Mile Markers. You can also look forward to two hours of Bluegrass Gospel, as well as a fiddle contest that is open to all. If you’re interested, the event will be held at Lake Altoona County Park from noon to 9pm. Tickets can be purchased online via WHYSradio.org, or in person at Just Local Food, Altoona Family Restaurant, and Acoustic Café. $12 per person, or $17 for the family (prices go up $3 at the event).
