For the next two years, Eau Claire’s literary scene will have a pair of seasoned eyes looking over it. Bruce Taylor, UW-Eau Claire professor emeritus of English, was named the new poet laureate by the city council recently. This Brigadier of Books has published seven poetry collections and has appeared in several anthologies. This Wielder of Wisdom has had poems read by Garrison Keillor on his nationally syndicated Writer’s Almanac show. As part of his duties, our very own Patriarch of Poetry will also be expected to write and publish at least two poems relating to Eau Claire. Bruce (aka Sergeant of Stories) is our city’s second poet laureate, following the incomparable Royalty of Reading, Ms. Nadine St. Louis. Congratulations Bruce, our very own Lieutenant of Literature. You’re a true Warrior of Words. OK, now we’re out of titles.
