Being able to start with an idea and to see how it changes and grows into something you never expected it to is, to me, one of the most rewarding things about making art. What we were thinking: “‘Sew Hip’ was chosen for our early June cycle due to its abstract content and strong visual elements. The piece was created from an readily available catalog page with a fashion model located in the center of the composition. Brenna Signe has then taken various colors of yarn and sewed it into three geometric patterns almost like that spiral graph drawing kit you used as a kid. What makes this concept so powerful is that the majority of the model's face is covered by the yarn but one eye has remained unscathed by the alteration. This creates a strong focal point and makes a passerby ponder the meaning.” – V1 Designer Josh Smeltzer
