Howard “Guitar” Luedtke and his guitar share a private moment.

The Mabel Tainter Theater is set to hold an amazing evening of music featuring western Wisconsin singers and songwriters, hosted by Tom Martin-Erickson. The showcased talent includes Patchouli, Howard "Guitar" Luedtke, Mike Quick, and Yata. Patchouli is a nationally touring duo of songwriter Julie Patchouli and master guitarist Bruce Hecksel, who light up the air with their sparkling acoustic sounds. Their style of "New American Fold" blends elements of folk, pop, flamenco, and jazz with world beat rhythms. Howard "Guitar" Luedtke is a local blues legend with a slide guitar talent comparable to Ry Cooder and a rockin' electric sound when accompanied by his group Blue Max. Following a tradition of storytelling folk music, Mike Quick has been compared to Gordon Lightfoot in his ability to glide smoothly between the styles of soft folk to country, rock, and blues in his singing and songwriting. His music is a blend of acoustic guitar, piano, and organ complimented by light percussion and wonderful backing vocals. Yata, a singer/songwriter for 40 years, has recorded seven CDs of his original music and appeared with Garrison Keillor on Prairie Home Companion and opened for folk giants nation-wide. Although considered a folk musician, Yata incorporates influences of jazz, rockabilly, gospel, country, blues, and ballads into his music. Should be quite the night.
