The upcoming event will take place on March 11 from 7 to 9pm at Christ Church Cathedral, 510 S Farwell St. The locations of the events to come are subject to change. During warmer months Kowalski hopes to hold the event outside, perhaps even at Phoenix Park in the labyrinth. Ecstatic dance is a form of improvisational, therapeutic, expressive, and spiritual dance, Kowalski said. According to Kowalski, Ecstatic Dance takes place all over the country and has evolved from various historical cultures, particularly those that embraced Shamanism. Kowalski mentioned that cave paintings often displayed dancers. To Kowalski, dance is more than entertainment. It is a form of prayer and meditation. “The music and the rhythm get anchored into the soul,” Kowalski said. Kowalski uses a variety of musical sounds at the events, from melodious and calm to earthy and strong. Kowalski welcomes everyone to attend Ecstatic Dance. There is no need for partners and you don’t actually have to dance, Kowalski said. “You can sit back and let the music move you.” Kowalski wishes to bring life and joy to Eau Claire and she feels dance is a great way to get the community together. Kowalski invitingly proclaimed, “Get on your feet, Eau Claire. Let’s go!”
