Like many of you, I have Packer Fever. In general I’m a fairly casual sports fan. I tend to really only care when things actually count – like playoffs, March Madness, bowl games, or when the Volume One kickball team goes up against the Loco Donkeys every summer. So now, as the Packers gear up to play in the Super Bowl on February 6 for the first time in fourteen years, things REALLY count. I haven’t missed a minute of the action since late in the regular season when they hit “must win” territory, and it’s been a great ride. As the rest of our contributors are also keyed up about the big game, you’ll notice quite a few Packers references throughout this issue – something we’ll indulge in now simply because the opportunity is rare. It’s safe to say it will be an exciting day. But, what’s really most important in sport-watching endeavors is of course the food. With that in mind, I’m currently taking offers/invites to Super Bowl parties. Let the best Lil’ Smokies win.
