Volume One's Fresh Factoids

things we learned while making the magazine

V1 Staff |

1. Be careful not to mention Volume One’s “Sad Ales Coordinator” on Facebook, as no one should know we have one of those. Mentioning the Ad Sales Coordinator is OK, though. – Mike Paulus

2. Patrick O’Brien may have gotten his start at Fanny Hill and a cheesy sitcom (Saved By the Bell’s Mr. Dewey), but he wound up alongside Brad Pitt in Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Not too shabby. – Kristin Frosch

3. It has been 10 months since our last Ted Nugent reference. And that is far too long. – Trevor Kupfer

4. Hands down, the best police reports in the Chippewa Valley come from the Chippewa Herald. Full of detail and laced with what I can only suspect is a hint of knowing sarcasm. – Matt Ledger

5. It’s not always a fun/good idea to let your friends write your bios. Sometimes you get a good discussion going. Sometimes you get adorable Catholic hate mail. – Arya Roerig

6. Sarah Brightman may be England’s beloved classical soprano, but she began her career prancing around in a white “spacesuit,” lusting after a starship trooper. – Kinzy Janssen

7. As of 2009, the term “roller derby” is no longer a registered trademark, and is instead used to refer generically to all forms of the sport. – Betty Rae Matthews

8. Lionel Richie’s Dancing On The Ceiling. Theme song of the Eau Claire Express NWL Championship moment. Who knew? – Luc Anthony
