Second Annual Yam Cannon Ball

an evening of jam bands, poetry, dance-offs, and prizes

Local band Yam Cannon, a so-called “odd-ball jam band,” first hit our music scene in 2006. Since then, they’ve grown into an anti-message and versatile group that will do what they can to “cheese-ify” (thanks Joe Thielen, guitar/vocals, for my new favorite word) today’s music. Drummer Matt Hankey says, “We’re doing our own style. The result is building our own scene. We have to be the best ‘us’ band.” Fellow bandmate Greg Hirsch (bass/lead vocals) adds, “We’re stuck with the dirty job of creating this music.” Well, dirty as it may be, it delivers captivating results. Yam Cannon, along with Eau Claire’s own Hallie Death March, Superior’s Electric Graveyard Afterlife, and Minneapolis band Enchanted Ape, invite you to the 2nd Annual Yam Cannon Ball. These diverse musicians will provide extraordinary originals and covers as they come together to rock your socks off. Whether your style is punk, disco, country, or tuber rock, there will be a little bit of flavor for everyone to enjoy. The night’s festivities will include live music from the bands, the Yam Cannon drinking game, giveaways, and contests with prizes, poetry, dance-offs, and general non-sensible rowdiness. Join the fun for a great way to kick off the New Year.
