Two halves of an upcoming musical whole.

As a self-proclaimed experimental band, it’s only fitting that the Sue Orfield Band should look beyond their four members to increase the eclecticism and evade any genre thrown their way. For over a year now, the Sue Orfield Band has regularly hosted guest artists on stage at the Red Parrot as part of a series called the Sue Orfield Band Presents. This time, hold onto your hats. They’ve got Mike Perry, a renowned nonfiction writer who happens to be the owner of an expressive baritone voice and acoustic guitar. Consisting of Sue Orfield on tenor sax, Mike Schlenker on guitar and keys, Randy Sinz on bass, and Dave Scharder on drums, SOB has previously called upon such varied musicians as local blues singer Catya, country singer Johnny Lynch, flautist Peter Phippen, and folk guitarist Billy Krause. Mike Perry, (though without his usual entourage of the Long Beds) will surely inject some of his storytelling prowess into the mix. All in all, the pairing of this saxophone-heavy band with Mike’s country-strumming guitar will produce some rare sounds, indeed.
