The unique artistic creations of Paula Gorski can be viewed as part of a month-long exhibition at The Stone Tree (204 Water St., Eau Claire). Known for her eccentric work with a variety of textiles, including yarn and fabric, Paula Gorski’s art is a whimsical and playful expression of everyday thoughts and anecdotes. Also included in her body of work are narrative paintings that are every bit as abstract and clever as her wrapped sculptures. Much of her inspiration comes from her time spent living in Bolivia, surrounded by the folklore celebrations and dances of the culture. She wanted to incorporate the vibrancy and color of the sights and movements around her. Although her grandmother’s rag rugs may have subconsciously influenced her chosen artistic medium, her work is far from traditional. In her creations, Gorski cleverly subverts normality and visually transforms recognizable items (such as shopping carts) into works of modern genius. Her work will be on display until December 1.
