NOW ONLINE: Wisconsin Rail Plan 2030

Trevor Kupfer |

The three phases of the Wisconsin Rail Plan 2030 are, essentially: make a plan, show people a draft of the plan, and finalize the plan. And a few days ago (Oct. 1, I believe) the Wisconsin Department of Transportation began the second phase and started the 45-day countdown that is the comment period.

Over the course of the next month or so, the WisDOT will encourage state residents to make comments in writing or in person, at one of their public hearings throughout the state.
When the 45 days are up, the comments will prompt changes or updates to the plan. Then WisDOT will finalize and adopt the plan.

So find some free time, head over to their website, and read up on the plan. Then make your fuming phone calls to (608) 266-8108, forward your furious faxes to (608) 267-0294, send your enraged e-mails to railplan2030@dot.wi.gov, or write your livid letter to PO Box 7913, Room 901, Madison, WI 53707.

And, hey, try not to get too steamed.
