The filmmaker.

The work of local filmmaker and BMX enthusiast Erik Elstran recently got some major props from the BMX movie world. His film, If Dragons Weren’t So Ferocious, placed in the top ten in the 2010 Bicycle Film Festival in New York City. In addition to being screened at the festival in NYC, Dragons will be shown in 30 other cities across the country. Erik is a member of North of Ten, a multimedia blog about the northern Wisconsin BMX scene. He describes the four-minute film as “a brief look into how a modern dragon could be spending his free time, if he wasn’t so concerned with dueling knights and such.” For those who didn’t know, there are bicycle film festivals all over the world. Bike festivals are meant to celebrate the bicycle through music, art, and film, and are a major driving force of the urban bike movement.
