Woe of Tyrants: The youthful face of Death Metal today.

Ya like Bolt Thrower? Obituary? Cannibal Corpse? Then you’re gonna love Jungle Rot. And it’s not because JR sound like their peers/predecessors; in fact each of the aforementioned acts is as idiosyncratic as the guest list at your family reunion. However there is a ruthless consistency, shot through each release, which links these bands – less of a need to reinvent the wheel than to check the pressure and occasionally rotate to prevent wear. In short, you know what you are getting when you spin a Jungle Rot record. Hailing from Kenosha, the band has been plodding, mammoth like, through the tar pit of the death metal underground since 1994, steadily rising towards international recognition (on Napalm Records) while avoiding the sticky pull of slow extinction in a saturated scene. And they will be bringing their primitive stomp to the House of Rock alongside impressive Californian black metal horde, Lightning Swords of Death. Their debut, The Golden Plague, swept the floor with this writer; it’s rawer than undercooked hamburger, and it will hollow your shell twice as fast. LSOD recently signed with metal “biggie” Metal Blade Records (yep, the first label to commit the sounds of Metallica and Slayer to wax) and are currently promoting full-length number two, The Extra Dimensional Wound. They also count guitarist Roskva among their ranks, of the mighty Endless Blizzard. Rounding out the bill, we’ll see performances from Metal Blade hopefuls Woe of Tyrants (Ohio), and the brutal death bludgeon of California’s Pathology (on Victory Records).
