Local Music Veteran Goes Solo, Heads to Philippines

His name is Brad Behnke, but to his friends and fans he’s Brad to the Bone, and he can rock a mean set of drums … and lead guitar … and bass … and vocals … the guy’s just crazy multi-faceted. This Eau Claire native has been a part of the Chippewa Valley’s music scene for 30 years, he said, playing covers with a variety of local rock bands and even appearing at the first Decadent Cabaret. “Playing cover songs got old,” he said. “I’ve done this for 30 years, and I just wanted to play my own songs.” Now a one-man band, Brad’s next step will be to play in the Philippines (his girlfriend is from there), and work with local promoters to get his sound out. Unfortunately for us, Brad to the Bone hasn’t performed in Eau Claire in a while, and doesn’t plan on playing anytime soon. “The timing is not right,” Behnke said. “It’s extremely hard to find four musicians who are all on the same plate, when everyone has their own opinions.” So if a trip to the Philippines isn’t in your future, check out Brad to the Bone’s latest CD, Where Are Your Seasons, at MySpace.com/BradttBone. Or do as he suggests, and “take the CD home, turn it up to 10, shut your TV off, and rock out!”
