Powerglove

video game-based power metal finally comes to town

Just your average rock homage to the game gods.

Whether you were button-mashing the controller to pieces beating the high score, slaying 32-bit creatures to level up or got your butt kicked repeatedly by a boss with repetitive attack patterns, you know that the Nintendo Entertainment System and its Super big brother gave us the golden years of video gaming. Now, it’s time to relive that experience via power metal. Powerglove, named after the largely unsuccessful NES controller accessory touted in The Wizard, presents video game music from the NES and SNES eras in the stream of epic, glorious face-melting power metal. No game is too geeky. Mortal Kombat? Too easy. Final Fantasy VII? Try harder! Even the Tetris theme sets the frets aflame as Powerglove crunches and squeals for tremendous gamer-rock mayhem. Expect recognizable rock from back when Mario, Megaman, and Link were getting their start, larger-than-life costumes (although battle gear might be the better word for it), and a measure of extreme that both Dragonforce and Bowser, King of the Koopas can appreciate.
