Volume One Special Coverage: Pulling Together While Staying Apart

Contest Calls for Scotch Tape Sculptures

Mitchell See

Want to win $5,000 and a whole butt-load of packaging tape? Who doesn’t? Grab your Scotch and get those creative juices flowing because the “Off the Roll” Tape Sculpture Contest, sponsored by 3M, is looking for an eccentric and inspired masterpiece. Make any non-vulgar, non-copyrighted sculpture out of at least 90 percent Scotch tape and then submit three candid photos of your work by February 28, 2010. A panel of expert artists and a public vote online will decide the grand prize and runners up (they get $500). Even if you don’t win, you could always use the leftovers to hold together your poorly wrapped Christmas presents. Check out the website for a full list of details and maybe a few ideas at www.offtherollcontest.com. – MS
