Local Teens Win Theater's Annual Vocal Competition

Bailey Berg |

Zoey Schweitzer, age 13, and Cayla Kluver, age 17, won the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre’s sixth annual StarQuest vocal competition on Saturday, December 5. ECCT based the event on the American Idol format, encouraging young local singers to take the next step in pursuing a career as a professional performer. Oddly enough, both the winners performed the same song, the oft-covered Leonard Cohen tune Hallelujah. Thirty-three area youths entered this year’s contest, with Schweitzer and Kluver coming out on top. You may remember Kluver, a senior from Fall Creek, from an article we ran on her in 2008 after she published a fantasy novel called Legacy.
