After all the hype we had for our little Web-a-thon Telethon experiment on VolumeOne.org, I thought I’d give a little closure and let you know how it went. Hopefully you got a chance to check out part (or all!) of the three-hour web broadcast on Friday, Dec. 11. Or maybe you caught it re-running throughout the weekend. With some big names like Justin Vernon, Mike Perry and a ton of musical and weirdly talented guests we were able to make a fun splash that afternoon. We had a little less than 3,000 people view at least part of the broadcast throughout the entire weekend, and about 1,300 views during the live broadcast itself from 1-4pm. Whether this is really all that good (or interesting) I don’t know, but we hit our goals for viewership and new membership, and had a blast in the process. Widgets for both Twitter and Facebook were imbedded right on our site below the broadcast window, and we had well more than 100 tweets and status updates go out from viewers during the broadcast. So all and all it was a pretty fun and successful experiment. If you have any feedback for us related to the whole thing, we’d love to hear it. Email me at nick@volumeone.org.
