Poetica Grandma-tica releases sixth edition

Bailey Berg |

Another year. Another book. Co-editors Nancy Clark Scobie and Judith Bredeson have compiled, edited, and published their sixth edition of Poetica Grandma-tica, a book of, about, and by grandmothers of the Chippewa Valley. “Our book is a great read,” Nancy said. “Here we find joy and sorrow, despair and hope, wonderment and disbelief in reading stories of ordinary people living daily extraordinary lives. … It demonstrates once again that we all have stories to tell.”  Around 80 authors – ranging from 12 to 93 years of age – submitted prose and poetry for the ongoing work. The book is comparable to Chicken Soup for the Soul because of its quick, short stories on varying topics. Proceeds from the book go to UWEC University Women’s Association Grant Fund and the Chippewa Valley Cultural Association. The newest book is on sale at St. Bede Monastery in Eau Claire, Book Ends in Menomonie, and Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls. And, for the first time this year, you can purchase it online at www.cvca.net through their events page. For more information, call 726-9000.
