After wishing and wanting for more than two years, our household finally made an addition to the family and invited a seven-month-old, tall and slender hound dog named Walter into our pack. After three or four visits to the Eau Claire County Humane Association, we were hooked on his floppy ears, shiny coat, and yes…his puppy dog eyes. So for the last couple of weeks, Walter has been adjusting to his new surroundings, a new routine, and a couple of goofy adults who just think he’s the best thing ever. The local humane association made the whole process easy and enjoyable. Given the undoubtedly stressful environment at the shelter, with frazzled pets in and out the doors every day, the ECCHA staff and volunteers clearly want the best for every animal and come armed with abundant information and compassion. Given our experience, and the amazing little pup we ended up with, I can’t recommend enough that you check out the Eau Claire County Humane Association if you find yourself wanting a little somebody extra running around your house.
