Blues Off The Air

Tyler Griggs |

To some it’s like pushing Muddy Waters into a puddle, or making Howlin’ Wolf yelp in pain. It’s just sad. Two WMEQ 92.1fm Sunday night blues programs were recently replaced, causing a stir among local blues fans in their listenership and beyond. The radio programs, Blues Deluxe with Dave Johnson, and Sunday Night Blues, hosted by Snapshot, which aired back-to-back 6-10pm Sunday nights, have been removed from the station’s programming and were exchanged for more classic rock – a genre 92.1 is better known for. The programs boasted contemporary and classic blues tunes, some of which included musicians and singers from the Chippewa Valley.
