CURRENT OPENINGS:
VIDEO / FILMMAKING INTERNSHIP
Apply now to build your portfolio of video work!
Volume One is seeking a creative and talented individual (or two) to plan, shoot, and edit a variety of video-based projects. These will include mostly 2- to 3-minute, fast-paced, and high-energy documentary-style videos on a variety of topics throughout the Chippewa Valley. Projects involving animation, narratives, experimental, and promotional techniques may also come about. The individual should have experience in shooting and editing good-quality video and audio, as well as experience or ambition in finding interesting topics, interviewing subjects, and telling an effective story. Volume One staff (with a significant background in video production) will also "train" and sometimes collaborate with the individual. The videos will be seen by thousands of people via VolumeOne.org, social media sites, and other web-based and local outlets.
This is an unpaid internship with flexible hours that may qualify for college credit, though depending on future endeavors possible part-time pay could evolve. While Volume One does have some audio/video equipment available for use, it would be best if the individual worked with their own camera, editing software, etc.
Please provide us with links to, or hard copies of, sample videos or related work, as well as thorough background info on yourself and your ambitions. Traditional resumes are also welcome but not required.

What's it like to work at Volume One?
It's pretty great, read on...
Core Staff Members
There are those that work AT Volume One - about eight to ten fully paid (and pampered) staff members who punch the clock every morning at the V1 World Headquarters in downtown Eau Claire. These people do a lot of what our contributors do, but they also have the challenging tasks of pulling all our projects together, meeting various deadlines, making sure the bills get paid, and cleaning out the fridge from time to time. Their jobs include writing/editing, website editing/administration, advertising sales, graphic design, operations/development, and more. See below for potential openings.
Distribution Drivers
We're always looking for responsible and qualified people to distribute papers throughout the valley - and get paid cash to do it. We have routes in Eau Claire, Menomonie, and Chippewa Falls, and some projects require a more rural route as far north as Bloomer and as far south as Osseo. If you're interested in the details of becoming a distribution driver, email us at mail@volumeone.org.
Interns
We love working with energetic and qualified interns of all types. Many of these people get some set hours in the office each week. Typical fields include: writing/editing, photography, illustration, business/sales, pr/promotions, and more.
If you're interested in details on an un-paid Volume One internship, email Nick Meyer at mail@volumeone.org and he'll get you pointed in the right direction.
Contributors
Volume One has dozens of contributors - people who write articles, take photos, create illustrations, and more - but they do this largely out of the goodness of their hearts and as a creative contribution to their community. While our contributors are very much a part of the team and the lifeblood of our organization, they don't really work AT the Volume One office. They work in the field and in the comforts of their own homes.
Sound cool?
You can quite possibly be one. Fill out this short form to show your interest and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
