The Nostalgic Bean: Restored for Pours

This is a great idea for a restaurant. However, the hours will probably prevent many interested patrons from visiting. It looks like one of the only places in the area that serves unique and upscale desserts/pastries yet it is closed nights and Sundays. When do people want dessert? Breakfast and lunch during the week or after dinner and on weekends?

Some of the best Asian food in town. First time there today. Kind of sketchy on the inside but the food is very worth it. I had the Pho and an Egg Roll. My lunch partner had chicken stir fry. All was very fresh and tasty. My XL Pho was humungous. I could not finish it and I am a 250 lb guy.

[...] I went here once. The food was OK for a Chinese buffet. It didn't smell the greatest in the restaurant. The service was fine. I was underwhelmed and probably won't go back. Not because I got sick but because it just isn't that good. However, this is comparable to most Chinese buffets in the EC area. There might be one or two that I prefer a bit more.

The sandwiches are OK but definitely uninspired. I am pretty sure the soup is not homemade. I give it two stars for the food and four stars for the atmosphere, location, and coffee.

I like the location and the atmosphere. The service is always great. I don't get how this place wins for best burgers in EC. They are really dry and a bit low on flavor. I've liked other things here but I won't be getting the burgers anymore.

I wrote a bad review about 2 months ago and I figured I'd better make it right. I decided to try the Galloway Grill again and the food was excellent and the service was much improved. Just to make sure this was not a fluke I've gone back twice more and both times: excellent service and food. Maybe it was the summer help (the servers seemed very inexperienced) but since September it seems like this place has turned around. It gets my vote at the best burger in Eau Claire, much better than Mogie's. I'm also a big fan of their beer fries and buffalo chicken sandwich. I am still too scared to try that Chicken Caesar Wrap again, though.

These cheese curds suck. They are not cheese curds but giant 1.5 inch cubes of cheese that have been fried. It makes me sick just to think about it. Also had the grilled chicken sandwich was about as dry as they come. They may have put 1/2 tsp of mayo on the whole sandwich which really highlighted how dry it really was.

This place is hit and miss. I've been here twice for lunch. The first time I had the turkey bacon caesar wrap which was delicious with fried pickles appetizer, which was disgusting (just pickle spears that were breaded and fried and thus lava hot, I was expecting something more like baby dills). The second time I came here I ordered the turkey bacon caesar wrap again but it was much different. It was hot this time (1st time it was cold) and there were globs of dressing on it. What made it much worse however, was that it contained an entire lettuce core. I have no idea how the cooks could miss that. Not just the tougher lettuce ends near the core, but the actual core itself! Also I found a piece of mystery meat in it that was clearly not turkey or bacon: it looked like a dried up meatball. This experience has really soured me on coming back.

I guess it all depends on what kind of pizza you like. I've tried Jeff and Jim's (thicker crust, also recommended) and Pizza Del Re (thin crust and flavorless) and I like Sammy's the most. It has a thin crust, which is still slightly soft, with bucketloads of cheese and a lot of flavor. If your favorite pizza is Domino's you probably won't like Sammy's.
